1/2 | CUP | Butter or Lard | ||
1/2 | CUP | Sugar | ||
1 | CUP | Water - boiling | ||
1 | TSP | Soda - dissolve in above water | ||
1 | CUP | Walnuts - chopped (Option) | ||
1 | CUP | Raisins - chopped-boiled to tender-drained (Option) | ||
1 | TSP | Cinnamon | ||
1 | TSP | Ginger | ||
2 1/2 | CUP | Flour | ||
2 | Eggs - beaten | |||
In a large bowl, mix first three items, pour water/soda over top and stir well - cool. Add remaining items and mix. Bake at 350F for 45 to 50 minutes. |
